Balance Media, an award winning, technology design agency specializing in online systems and web-based business applications is looking to ramp up in the following people areas: Senior Application Developer (Ongoing Contracts) The successful candidate(s) will work remotely on the development of base websites and larger Web applications. Applicants must be deadline oriented, demonstrate excellent communications skills and understand the requirements and complexities of working remotely. The Applicant should have a formal education in computer science or related discipline. Applicants must have experience in the following areas:
  • development using server-side technologies like PHP, ASP and ASP.net
  • development using XHTML / DHTML / XML / JavaScript / AJAX / jQuery
  • implementation of large Web-based applications, including eCommerce and other n-tier solutions
  • implementation of and building upon open-source content management / blog-based sysytems
  • implementation and development of mashups
  • cross-browser development practices
  • skinning sites using provided CSS and template files
  • evaluation of client briefs, providing technical recommendations, and evaluation of new technologies
  • current with web standards and trends
  • maintaining a thirst for learning
It would be nice if the applicant has experience in the following areas:
  • development in Rails
  • development in Django
  • development in Flash and ActionScript
  • database development (including MS SQL MySQL)
  • knowledge of Web Services, SharePoint
  • advertising and marketing concepts
