2009: The Summer of Busy

We hope that everyone had a great summer and enjoyed some well deserved vacation time with your families and friends.
For us, it is an understatement to say that this summer was filled with activities. In addition to our ongoing projects we, along with every other Canadian, were trying to get the most out of the months without snow and I must say, we made sure every second was scheduled!
Beyond typical summer activities like golf and barbecues, we made sure to take in the Edmonton Indy (if you really know us… you know how big this week is for us), a winning season of slo-pitch and participating in the Mitsubishi City Chase.
The City Chase was a great event that pushed our team to reach new heights through a variety of tasks. Think survivor meets Edmonton in one day. Some of our challenges included: being chained together and having to run from seat-to-seat at Commonwealth stadium looking for numbers to unlock our combination lock, recruiting three people on Whyte ave to join us in ‘Caraoke’, successfully catching three footballs and kicking a field goal, building a birdhouse, mirroring the setting of a dining table in preparation for a four course meal, eating crickets, dragging a dummy across the lawn of fire station 22 and hitting a target with the fire hose.
We had a great time and were exhausted from the day and are already excited about next year’s event. We’re also proud to say that we placed within the top third of the Edmonton competitors. Over 600 people were registered and the competition was fierce!
